Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Longevity Standard website, LS Review, What If tools, writing, research, and related services.

By using the site or purchasing or requesting a service from Longevity Standard, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Longevity Standard provides

Longevity Standard provides financial education and independent analysis of financial products.

Our work may include examining:

  • what a financial product promises
  • which institution is responsible for particular obligations
  • how product features operate
  • what is guaranteed and what may change
  • costs, expenses, restrictions, and conditions
  • access to money
  • inflation-related considerations
  • factors that may affect future delivery
  • source documents and other evidence supporting our analysis
  • possible outcomes under hypothetical scenarios

Longevity Standard may analyze specific financial products.

Our purpose is to help users understand those products more clearly.

2. Financial education, not individualized advice

Longevity Standard does not provide individualized investment, insurance, legal, tax, or financial advice.

An LS Review does not determine whether a product is suitable or appropriate for a particular person or institution.

We do not recommend whether you should:

  • purchase a product
  • keep a product
  • replace a product
  • surrender a product
  • exchange a product
  • invest a particular amount
  • select a particular rider or option
  • make a particular election
  • take any other specific financial action

You remain responsible for your own financial decisions.

Where appropriate, you should consult qualified professionals who understand your individual circumstances.

3. LS Review

An LS Review is an educational analysis of a financial product and the evidence relevant to that product.

A Review may examine customer-provided materials together with independent product, company, regulatory, contractual, financial, and other source information.

The Review may distinguish among matters that are:

  • established
  • guaranteed
  • changeable
  • conditional
  • unresolved

Not every question can be answered with the same degree of certainty.

An LS Review reflects the materials and information available to Longevity Standard at the time the Review is prepared.

Financial products, companies, rates, terms, forms, regulatory filings, financial conditions, and other facts may change.

4. Product materials and source documents

Financial products may vary by:

  • issuing entity
  • contract form
  • rider
  • state or jurisdiction
  • issue date
  • application date
  • product version
  • customer election
  • other contractual conditions

A marketing name or illustration may not by itself establish which contractual terms apply.

Longevity Standard uses reasonable efforts to determine which materials and terms are relevant to the product being reviewed, but we cannot guarantee that every document or fact available elsewhere has been identified.

5. Information you provide

You are responsible for providing materials that are accurate and relevant to the product you want reviewed.

You should remove unnecessary personal or sensitive information before submitting documents.

Do not submit Social Security numbers, full account numbers, passwords, medical records, or other sensitive information unless Longevity Standard specifically requests it and it is necessary for the service.

You represent that you have the right to provide any materials you submit to us.

6. What If tools and hypothetical analysis

Longevity Standard may provide interactive tools, scenarios, models, or hypothetical analyses under the What If name or elsewhere on the site.

These tools are educational.

They may simplify real-world conditions in order to illustrate how a particular mechanism or assumption affects an outcome.

Hypothetical results are not predictions and are not guarantees of future performance or financial outcomes.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, a What If analysis is not a personalized financial projection.

7. Research and evidence

Longevity Standard may maintain structured research concerning financial institutions, products, forms, riders, features, contractual terms, financial information, regulatory materials, and other source evidence.

Our analysis may rely on public records, regulatory filings, issuer materials, contractual documents, customer-supplied documents, third-party materials, and derived calculations.

Sources may conflict, become outdated, contain errors, or be incomplete.

Where material uncertainty exists, Longevity Standard seeks to identify it rather than present uncertain information as established fact.

8. Independence

Longevity Standard does not sell the financial products it reviews.

Our economics are tied to performing the analysis, not to which product is selected, how much is purchased, or whether a transaction takes place.

Unless explicitly disclosed otherwise, we do not receive product commissions, sales compensation, or referral compensation based on a customer’s product decision.

9. Fees and payment

Fees for paid services are shown before payment.

Payment may be processed by Stripe.

If Longevity Standard determines before substantive work begins that a requested Review cannot reasonably be completed, any amount paid for that Review will be refunded.

Once substantive research or analysis has begun, fees are generally non-refundable.

Any materially different arrangement agreed to in writing will control.

10. Timing

Any delivery time communicated by Longevity Standard is an estimate unless expressly stated otherwise.

Review timing may depend on the completeness of submitted materials, the complexity of the product, the availability of relevant source documents, and the need to resolve factual questions.

11. Intellectual property

The Longevity Standard website, methodology, writing, analysis, visual design, software, models, reports, and other original materials are owned by Longevity Standard or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

An individual customer may use a purchased LS Review for personal, non-commercial purposes.

An institutional customer may use materials according to the terms agreed to for that engagement.

You may not reproduce, republish, sell, systematically extract, scrape, train models on, redistribute, or commercially exploit Longevity Standard materials except with our permission or as otherwise permitted by law.

12. Third-party materials and links

Longevity Standard may cite, quote, summarize, or link to third-party materials.

Those materials remain the responsibility of their respective authors, publishers, issuers, regulators, or owners.

A link or citation does not constitute endorsement.

13. No guarantee of completeness or future results

We seek to make our work careful, evidence-based, and useful.

Nevertheless, financial products and institutions are complex, and source information may be incomplete, ambiguous, outdated, or incorrect.

Longevity Standard does not guarantee that any analysis is exhaustive or that a product, institution, financial condition, or future outcome will remain unchanged.

Nothing on the site guarantees investment performance, income, purchasing power, insurer performance, solvency, contractual performance, or any other future financial result.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the website, educational materials, tools, and services are provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, except where expressly stated in writing.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

15. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Longevity Standard and its owners, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the site or services.

Any limitation of direct damages will be subject to applicable law and any additional terms agreed to for a particular engagement.

16. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • interfere with the operation or security of the site
  • attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
  • use automated systems to extract substantial portions of the site without permission
  • misrepresent Longevity Standard materials as your own
  • use our services for unlawful purposes

17. Changes to services and Terms

Longevity Standard may modify its website, tools, services, pricing, or these Terms from time to time.

The Terms in effect when a paid service is purchased will govern that transaction unless otherwise agreed.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms or the use of Longevity Standard services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the appropriate state or federal courts in California, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
